Jan Hichert, Sr. Vice President & General Manager, Network Security
has led Astaro since the company was founded in early 2000. Before Astaro, Jan consulted with software vendors and internet service providers on IT security and open source business models. Jan studied business at the University of St. Gallen and computer science at the Technical University of Karlsruhe before becoming an entrepreneur.
Gert Hansen, Chief Software Architect, Network Security
co-founded Astaro in early 2000. He was previously with the Internet service provider Plannet Systems and also co-founded the web development company Timenet, collecting extensive experience in both technology and entrepreneurship. Gert studied computer science at the Technical University of Karlsruhe. At Astaro, Gert is responsible for product strategy and software design.
Markus Hennig, Chief Technology Officer, Network Security
co-founded Astaro in early 2000. Markus has over ten years of experience in open source and network security and is an active member of the Linux community. In his previous career, he was Chief Technology Officer of the Internet service provider Plannet Systems where he built up the company's managed security business. Markus studied computer science at the Technical University of Karlsruhe. At Astaro, Markus is responsible for research, new technologies and new products.
Udo Kerst, Sr. Product Manager,
joined Astaro in 2005 and is responsible for the coordination of Astaro's Product Management activities. Udo has over 20 years experience within the IT industry. Before joining Astaro, Udo held various management roles within solutions marketing, systems engineering and consulting at Nortel Networks, Bay Networks and Retix. Udo studied Computer Science at the Technical University of Karlsruhe.
Angelo Comazzetto, Product Manager,
has spent the last years educating customers on the best ways to apply Astaro technology to their networks. With over 12 years of technical experience and a strong speaking background, Angelo specializes in ensuring that customers get the most out of their Astaro products. He can be found speaking at various events, and also crafts videos and technical publications found online. Angelo holds Bachelor's of Science Degrees from the DeVry Institute of Technology in Business Information Systems and Business Administration.
Eric Begóc, Product Manager,
is with Astaro since beginning of 2008. He was previously with the security provider GROUP Technologies collecting extensive experience in e-mail security and archiving technology. With more than 15 year of project and product experience in the IT business, Eric today is responsible for the Astaro Mail Archiving product.
Joerg Schindler, PR Manager,
is the Public Relations Manager for Astaro in EMEA. Within this role, he coordinates communication topics such as social media, press releases and interviews. Moreover, he manages the internal communication strategy and information flow among the international offices via the headquarter location in Karlsruhe. In his previous jobs, he gained experience as editor in chief for a Consumer Software trade magazine and PR Manager in the Interactive Entertainment industry.
Jessica Lavery-Pozerski, Marketing Manager,
is the Public Relations Manager for Astaro in the United States. In this role she is responsible for the development and execution of Astaro’s US communications strategy both internally and externally. Her main areas of interest include the use of social media and emerging communication tools for the use in corporate communications. Jessica holds a Bachelor of Arts in Corporate Communications from Newbury College.
Kathrin Moeschle, Marketing Manager,
started with Astaro in September 2010. In her previous job, she gained a deep insight into marketing hosted solutions. At Astaro, her key responsibilities are to ensure that the new, online based service, Astaro Mail Archiving, enters the market smoothly and also to conduct partner and customer targeted marketing activities.
Bill Prout, Sales Engineer,
is responsible for speaking with potential customers to help determine their exact network security needs. He got his start in Information Security more than 15 years ago while serving with the United States military. Since that time he has held a variety of technical positions in network security and architecture, and has worked with organizations such as EDS, Thompson Financial, Merrill Lynch and the City of New York. Bill serves as a product expert for Astaro’s partners and customers, and is a frequent speaker at security events.
Charles Tracey, Sales Engineer,
presents and supports Astaro Security Gateways. Charles joined Astaro in 2007 after 10 years as a network manager for a manufacturing company where he managed a WAN area network that included separate firewalls, web filters, spam filters and intrusions protection devices. He has recently been involved in rolling out the Astaro Command Center, a central management tool. He started in IT connecting Engineer Departments to Ethernet networks for large files transfers after the floppy shuffle became less than popular.
Tim Cronin, Support Engineer,
assists end users with the configuration and maintenance of Astaro products as well as providing technical support to the Astaro’s Channel Managers. Tim joined Astaro in 2008 and has since become an integral member of the Astaro support team. Tim also lends his expertise to the Astaro Security Perspectives blog.
